We Almost Lost It All
All of human civilization could have been wiped out. We almost lost it all. And if we have any obligation to the future, it's not to make sure that sanscrit or category theory is preserved in to the next generation of phd Students. So my fondest hope is that the current crisis that we're in, global pandemic, in a political heval de partisanship, that maybe some academics will be similarly motivated. If they're not, maybe the current generation of 18, 19 and 20 year olds will themselves be to put pressure on the university to give them a meaningful education.
