The Effects of the Internet on Mimetic Desire
There's a lot of, you know, hangers on who are just kind of interested in the lifestyle. Just because it's entertainment doesn't mean it doesn't serve an important purpose. I think that the danger becomes escapism if you're using the kind of simulation of something as a substitute for the thing itself. The problem here isn't that it's entertainment, the problem is can you move beyond escapism to actually trying to live these values out for yourself.
