In 1948 the u.s. supreme court decided in the case the united states versus paramount pictures that such an arrangement actually violated federal antitrust laws. This would have a profound effect upon the film business because the studios would no longer have this guaranteed distribution of their films. The modern independent film scene springs from this moment as well finally films outside the studio system including foreign language films could finally break big in the united States so did vytoscope.
