Roman Emperor Nero - The First Roman Emperor
Nero performed as an actor, a poet, a singer and a ballet dancer in giant amphitheatres for screaming crowds. He was the very first roman emperor to do this - caligula had flirted with the idea during his reign. Unlike our own hollywood obsesses society, actors were not esteemed by Roman society. But nero knew the best way to amplify the implicit celebrity of being emperor was to par it with the sleeziness of the spotlight. As generous and artistic as he was, he also had a very bad, often murderous temper.
