I grew up in a situation where teachers were first name. That wasn't normal. Unless the teacher made it very clear, like I did have an English teacher and my senior year of high school who went by Sir. He wanted that he was like, he didn't go by Mr. Anything else he wanted to be called Sir. It's such an interesting like form of showing mutual respect,.
