The Vikings Raided Because They Could
The Viking Age began with intra-Norse feuding and raiding which probably started in the 600s. The second phase was raiding into the east which started in the early 700s, thirdly raiding into the west in Western Europe starting in the 700s and then fourthly the wave of colonization and settlement that started in the mid 800s. So basically in some looking at all of these conditions together we can say that why the Viking set out and raided and colonized through Europe is because they could.
