What Is Constable's Preference?
Painting is with me, but another word for feeling and I associate my careless boyhood with all that lies on the banks of the stower. These scenes make me a painter end quote. So he's saying, it's just his preference that is driving him to paint particular things. And other people have different preferences. Other artists paint different things in the same way that scientists are drawn towards particular problems. They're going to tell you about the solutions they've found to those particular problems, but it never gives you all of reality. It doesn't solve the question of what is reality? What is the final ultimate answer to this question?
