The most secure way to find out an institution and make sure their legitimate is to go on to the FCA Register. Don't call the number that the institution has given you because that could lead you to the fraudster. And what you're trying to make sure surely is also that these companies are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme which will pay out if the bank or institution goes bust.
