Kai's Mom Denies Allegations of Abuse
In May 2013, Kai McGillvery made a post on Facebook alleging parental abuse such as being forced to take cold showers. Most of his accusations were towards a woman, self-declared mother, but he also mentioned a man. His grandmother said that he had a rough childhood but was a very good boy. Shirley Stromberg said that she never heard her son was abused in residential treatment. At the time of his arrest, Kai McGillVery was homeless and traveling around the U.S. However, he preferred to use the term home free.
