Ethan Zuckerman: I want to thank Paul for joining me and my listeners on Psychoactive. He recently edited a 700 page edited volume of the Oxford handbook of global drug history. You know, he just helped organize a meeting in Mexico City where I was at last June that was one of my first encounters with this broader world. So let me just start off by asking this basic question. When you made that evolution from your early work on guano to looking at coca, what was it that stimulated you?
