How GPS Satellites Communicate With Your Phone

GPS is our broadcast only, or at least for the intents and purposes of this conversation, but only broadcasting out. And they're just broadcasting out there. It's a very, very specific pattern with some specific nuance in it that allows you to do a precise timing of understanding the two things. When the satellite believes it sent the message and when you heard the message, got it. If you know the satellite's orbit, then you know sort of where in the earth frame, like the satellite was at that time. But giving you one, if you assume you're on the ground, which isn't a good assumption.
