The Need for a Wet Nurse
For most of history, that was the only reliable way to feed your baby if you could. Now that still happens in communities and certain societies all around the world. It's something that's done as a kind of it's a kinship relationship,. And it happens here in the UK as well. I suppose it's within our culture. We're very confused about the breast when it's maternal and sexual - we can be a bit weird about it. But also, there is that lingering belief that you are transmitting something through the milk as well.
