Is Red Experience a Function of Consciousness?
Local theorists used to say that consciousness has very little function, at least in terms of higher connition. Some people think if you cut out your visual cortax and put it on a patro dish and keep it alive, it would have read qualitative experience - even though there's no down stream con of circuits to appreciate it. I don't think it is the same phenomena any more. But should we assume that beng able to see red is to be able to associate it with danger? Ondhe on the traffic line. It doesn't have these functional properties. That also seems almost like a given.
