We need new ways of governing, says professor keene. We have people making decisions who are foolsav cientists trying to tell fools how to manage an economy. Aour political system chooses people on the basis of personality more nanything else - which means we sesfer sphenocisists and sociopaths. Could we eventually select for physiocrats again, instead of nerse assistanc sociopaths? I think we could. What i want is to have some capacity to sustain what we've learnt through the fossil field period. And if there's some way that that knowledge can be hung on to, then there's the chance for us to build a sustainable life.
On this episode, we meet with Economist, Author, and Research Fellow at the Institute for Strategy, Resilience, and Security at University College in London, Steve Keen.
Keen discusses how mainstream economics misses the centrality of energy to our economy and to our futures, the naive treatment to the risks of money and debt creation, and the disconnect economic theory has to climate change risks.
