Oscar Wilde was a deeply spiritual fellow. He wasn't just, you know, deep feeling and also clever and very funny commentator on social mores. The poem is by A.E. Hausmann, English professor at Oxford from end of 19th and beginning of 20th century. It came to mind earlier because of something you said about this congregation of events and personages that allows for human life.
