Anxiety - The Importance of Keeping Your Heart Away From Evil

There is nothing that increases the evil more, or which pushes the good further away than anxiety and eagerness. Consider whether you have your heart at your command or whether perhaps it is slipped from your hands in order to engage itself in some disorderly affection of love, hatred, envy, covetousness, fear, uneasiness, or joy. And if it happens to have gone astray, seek after it before you do anything else and bring it quietly back to the presence of God. Do not let your desires, no matter how trivial and unimportant, cause you anxiety,. lest afterwards those that are greater and of more importance, might find your heart more disposed to trouble and disorder.
