It's so common now to see ourselves comprised as multiple different parts that are ever changing and not over identified with one or the other. Mindfulness practice can dissolve this glue with profound implications for therapy. For example, my client Gretchen recently found herself stuck in a depressive funk. She'd lost hope again that she'd ever have a meaningful job or relationship. Highlighting the fluidity of her sense of self helped her gain perspective.
