The History of Credit

In 19th century America, credit was completely commonplace. After the Civil War in the 1870s and 1880s, you begin to have organizations devoted just to collecting information about local consumers. They would centralize information about whether they were viewed to be credit worthy or not,. Whether they paid their debts. And these ideas are embedded directly into credit reports which are converted into ratings.
