"I just got to lay down the education because if people don't have the words to describe the pain that they're having. Then nobody can help," she says. "Sometimes writing about bodies as not literally not human can sometimes allow us to give people another way in that is that sometimes feels safer for the writer as much as anything else" She adds: "The things that really kind of rivets me to somebody's story is when I read about their experience with like a disability that they have in common with me."
