Leadership runs on social coordination entirely. There's no arbiter of what happens except people just using their best guess, which is kind of chaotic at times and fun to watch, but fundamentally higher performance. I would imagine there's a tremendous amount of leadership anxiety that happens when you tell someone to change everything they've spent probably decades learning how to do. It does provoke a lot of anxiety, especially in people that didn't ask for it. When the next word out of my mouth is, "I'm not going to make you do this" This is an invitation. And if it's 2% of the hands in the room or 5% or 10%, that's fine with us.
