The Role of the General Public in Rail Strikes

Rail workers have that power to be able to inflict economic damage on the economy and on the government. It was estimated that three days of national strikes recently cost the economy £90 million. Railway passengers are not quite such a strong position, we don't have that collective identity. But in the book, I do show that there are some opportunities to join that fight that the rail unions are leading. And one of those is something called a fair strike, which is basically a strike by passengers. This usually works quite well, although it's quite a potentially dangerous tactic.
