The Cycle of Ownership in the United States
Americans tend to live in a home typically for five to nine years. That cycle is breaking because of the banking scandals that started in two thousand seven. We went through a 15 year period of artificially low mortgage rates, they were manipulated down by the federal government. People have locked in at all these incredible rates. So people who in the past would have had itchy feet and say, ah, well, i'd like this bigger house, or i'd like thisor i'd like that are not going to move.
