The History of the Hebrew Language
By 1922, the British Empire had made Hebrew an official language in Palestine. Benyahuda started a dictionary of ancient and modern Hebrew. He used his journalism skills to publish lists of words and grammar that he was developing. For them, Hebrew was the holy language. How dare a Jew profane the Torah by using it to ask for a railway ticket?
