The Importance of Being Faithful to the Lord
I think the reason it makes pride so nefarious is, as you said, ambition drive the desire to achieve. I believe they are all manifestations of the fact that we are made in the image of the creator God. But that drive can so easily morph into pride. You've got to have that ambition. That's pretty ambitious. So doing that while balancing it out with the recognition that we do it all one on the shoulders of giants like your grandparents and great grandparents who've gone before us. We're just one little link in this amazing chain of saints that the Lord has himself is overseeing. And we get a better sense of balance that way.
