The Talmud - I'd Rather Die Than Live
Jonah asked how much longer he would have to suffer. God told him there was nothing he could do about his suffering. He said, don't destroy the world and start from scratch so that you could create me under a different influence - things could work out for me. The Talmud explains it this way: It's better once someone dies than after they come back to life.
