Pavaya Island During the Bubonic Plague

Pavaya Island during the bubonic plague was thought to have hosted over 160,000 people suffering from the plague. It's said that human bones still wash up on the shores and the fishermen will stay away from the island out of fear of catching the skeletal remains. In the 1570s and 1630s, various islands, including Pavelia, function as both quarantine stations and as dumping grounds for masses of corpses.
