Pregnancy and Lupus Symptomatologies
Lupus flare during pregnancy can affect the fetus so they have an increased rate of fetal loss and that may be due to other coexisting diseases with it such as anti-phospholipid syndrome which we'll discuss next. The fetus also at risk for IUGR, prematurity, preterm delivery and the C-section rate amongst pregnant patients with lupus has been reported to be as high as 40%. Those patients do need a you know pre-delivery assessment by your neonatologist and may need other advanced care after delivery.
