Is It Literal or Rhetorical?

Literal reading doesn't mean that you ignore rhetorical devices like metaphor or things like that. If the writer intended parable, it should be parable. We're always accountable to the authors. That's my big, criminutical thing. For authority to work, we have to be. And so as a result, we need to recognize whether they intended it rhetorically.
