The way for us to help people understand that capitalism is a force for good is for everybody to actually participate in it. R, the markets are pretty efficient mechanisms because there are just as many people out there willing to short a stock as there are willing to go long. But getting back to your question, that doesn't mean that there aren't moments of excess. That doesn't mean you can't hold two simultaneous truths.
