Why I'm Not a Buddhist
Buddhist modernism is a form of Buddhism that was very exceptionalist in its thinking. It would say, you know, Buddhism is uniquely suited to science. So when I gained insight into that, then for me, I saw that I could relate to Buddhism as a rich philosophical and religious tradition. That's one answer. Then a deeper philosophical answer is that Buddhism transforms over many epochs and cultures. And the equation of existence with suffering is not a perspective that I can at the end of the day embrace.
