The Rise and Fall of Pirates
The book is an edited retelling of Grayburr's doctoral thesis, which is ethnographies of people living in Madagascar. They are claimed to be and are incredibly believed to be the descendants of European pirates who set up shop there. And they intermarried with with local people, and created a new culture out of those two cultures. It became part of our cultural vocabulary that this is how pirates lived. This is what piracy was like.
