somewhere between 400 and 600 billion going to the poor, that's more than the federal government spends in a year on all of its welfare programs combined. A lot of money goes out that never gets declared in any way and doesn't actually get noted because it's not given to a nonprofit or some such thing. Americans only deduct about 50% of their charitable giving.
