The Mycenaean Civilisation on Crete
For trade to occur, a network of routes would need to be in place. Coastal settlements had access to the sea where ships could engage in domestic and foreign trade. The Minowans civilisation on Crete started a change around 1450 BC that was becoming less Minowan and more Mycenaean. This is probably due to both civilisations being so close and projecting their influence in the same areas. Copper and Tin were imported from Far East with perhaps Afghanistan being the most likely source. Amber, highly sought after for necklaces, was obtained from trade routes stretching into the Baltic.
