How Do Echidnas Dissipate Their Metabolism?

Echidnas are found all over the Australian continent, including central desert areas. Scientists were interested in how they could dissipate their metabolic heat and deal with high temperatures. They observed them blowing bubbles through their nose more when it was hotter. Those bubbles will break on the tip of their snout which has a big blood sinus in it. When that water evaporates, it cools the underlying blood.
