The Importance of Reason

In America we had a situation in which tradition was less important, last lines were massed as rigid as they were in England. Puritanism did have a so-called work ethic of course, and it sure contributed to some of the Puritan which meant the job, controlling their environment. In Puritanism itself there was a strong tradition of respect for reason and concern with man's dignity,. It was not just predestinarianism, it was not just original sin, there was a sense of covenant with God that made the right to ask God to redeem his part of the covenant.
