Tornado warnings remain one of the holy grails of forecasting. But in Africa, there's only something like 300 reliable weather stations operating at the moment. It really is a serious gap in the data and that then feeds into less accurate weather forecasts. The best way to remedy the situation? Is it to build more weather stations? Yes, ideally. And improve the infrastructure as far as communications is concerned too.
