The Battle of Waterloo
i've not been to any of the world's great digs, like machu pechu or petra. But i have a son in law who is an archaeologist. He was a serving soldier in afghanistan and wrote a book about his experiences. Now he has started a charity called waterloo uncovered. And this charity goes to the site of the battle of waterloo with wounded soldiers. They do archaeology there - they make interesting discoveries. So what i've learnt from my son in law is that our history is underneath our feet. It's fascinating. I know it changed our understanding of anglo saxon history. The saton ho discovery showed it as being really quite cultured
