Medicare Can't Negotiate Drug Prices
In 2003, Congress inserted a provision that expressly forbid Medicare from negotiating directly with drug manufacturers for the prices of the drugs it would purchase. That did change here just in the last year as part of the inflation reduction act and will now be allowed to negotiate the price of a few small select number of drugs.
