Durham cites James Anthony Frauud's arguments in the English in the West Indies that Haiti has been a horrific failure. The late Mr. John Jacob Thomas, whom we knew personally, was a gramarian and author. It was his pen that supplied a long felt want of those who were ignorant of the French Creole Patois.
