I Am Going to Jerusalem and I'm Going to Be Executed
Peter clearly recognized that Jesus was the Messiah but he must still have been thinking in a great part of what Jesus was is the one that he knew who was said to come and sort of set up a political kingdom. Here Jesus is now saying okay Peter you've got the point so far that I am the Messiah but now I need to give you some additional revelationSome fresh insight into his plans for Jerusalem. He tells them they are going to be persecuted and killed, which would seem to be foreign to anything Peter and for that matter the apostles or for that matter virtually everybody else at that time was thinking. So notice what happens next verse 22 tells us then Peter takes him aside and begins to rebuke
