The Beauty of Aquinas' Theology
In my own teaching I tend now to start with Aquinas' beautiful sermons. If you don't know that, it's wonderful which gives a wonderful bird's-eye view of his theology. The 20th century theologian most typically associated with the recovery of beauty in Catholicism and Christian theology more broadly is Hansus von Balthasar 1985-88. It says beauty is the word that shall be our first. Beauty is the disinterested one without which the ancient world refused to understand itself.
