In 2005, KKR and Silver Lake soldHP's chip division to them for $2.6 billion. The private equity companies did two important things: They hired a corporate consultant to pay them $300,000 to come up with a name for this company - Vago. Hocktan is one of if not the most influential, impactful semiconductor CEOs in the last 20 years.
