Introduction
The ability to retain data, to store information for long periods is crucial to computing. Nearly every computer since time immemorial has treated memory in the same way. From edzac on, you're given a pile of data organized into numbered locations. Each location holds a single number. We have over 70 years of an unbroken tradition here. I think that speaks to something fundamental about memory.
