The Fed can't afford to let the bond market take away the printing press, and so they'll do anything. The dollar really is the only outlet for that, because they have to prop up stock prices and bond prices. And it goes back to, once again, we saw this in the late 60s, I mean, it's not a fixed exchange rate mechanism.
