EG&G was a company that was created in Boston right around the end of World War II. Al O'Donnell had been working for Raytheon, working on the Manhattan Project. He learned later what he was doing was part of the Manhatten Project. In 1950, Harry Truman decides that we need a permanent nuclear testing site somewhere in the continental US.
