The Future of Sounding Rockets

We're starting to move into this world where we never seem reson rocketry. Were seeing smaller rockets that are capable of orbiting. Is there still a bold future for these sounding rockets? I think how they get used is going to evolve over time. There are so many different kinds of aurora, it's starting to feel like a month doesn't go by without a new one being discovered.
