The Price to Be Paid for Doing These Things

I decided that every six weeks, I'd go back to Iraq for a matter of 18 days. And it was really, really dangerous and difficult. By the time he was two or three, even though we didn't tell him what was going on, he knew. He would stand at the front door as I was leaving with his arms across to try to stop me. It's clearly had an effect on him. But there is a price to be paid for doing these things - one of them is that emotional price.
