The bismark was sunk in the open sea after a long hunt, an intense cannonade by the british navy. Only 115 sailors out of more than two thousand that had embarked on the bismark survived the sinking. This cat was found hours later, floating on board. And he had survived by clawing on like one of these wooden grates and just literally muling at sea. So they just called him oscar. That's just what they named him.
