Deterministic builds are definitely the way to go because you can have two totally separate environments. Most people should start at least playing around with the cheap Linux machine, you know get a cheap Dell or think pad or something install. I like pop OS as a as a learner Linux and we start trying to get comfortable with it,. maybe with the ideal goal long term to make that your dedicated Bitcoin machine.
