Avasenna and Philosophy in the Islamic World

In the Islamic world, Avasenna displaces Aristotle as sort of the archetype of a philosopher. The European idea that philosophy in the Islamic world ended around 1200 is actually a self-inflicted delusion. If an Arabic philosophical text is available in the Mediterranean around 1200, it can make its way into Latin. But if you're further east or you live too late, your work will never be translated into Latin because it's already happened.
